Jean-Yves Le Drian: Frankly, I do not think so. I note also that in France as in other states, the organization set up for the fight against pollution is not so bad. With regard to our country, the Navy, the Maritime Affairs and customs work well together. Why would it take to change an organization that works? The important is also in the definition of European standards and requirements that go along with the control of illegal immigration, the repression of all traffic, including that of humans. In this sense, the CPMR should be more listened to and must strengthen its role as a proposal ... I am even more disappointed that Jean-Louis Borloo had taken matters in hand and given the necessary political momentum .... He had done a good job getting the Grenelle of the sea and the "sea motorways", acting on behalf of marine energy or launching a necessary port reform. Without ministry, there is no pulse .... Sea deserves strong political will ... The maritime policy has evolved considerably since the disaster of the Erika in December 1999. The European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has called for the establishment of an integrated European maritime policy and it has emerged. I note that a European Commissioner, Ms Maria Damanaki, is in charge of maritime policies and fisheries. Real progress has been made, whether the port control, the credibility of the classification societies, technical monitoring of ships and their cargoes ... Like all my colleagues elected coastal areas, I think we must move towards further progress.
